We work together with UNESCO!

In 2014 The storytelling Network of Kronoberg (the Non-Govermental Organization) behind the Land of Legends was adopted as an accredited NGO to provide advisory services to the Committee of The Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. We are one of about 190 NGOs worldwide that have this recognition.

UNESCO – Accreditation

The Storytelling Network Kronoberg, the non-profit association responsible for The Land of Legends, was appointed Accredited Advisor to the Convention in 2014. The association is the only one with this distinction in Sweden. As of June 2020, there were 157 such consultant organisations worldwide.

Listed on the UNESCO register

In 2018, The Land of Legends was included in UNESCO’s Register of Good Safeguarding Practices. We were atthat time the 20th place in the world to be included in this very fine register and the first that Swedish Government nominated to this convention.

Intangible Cultural Heritage

People have at all times sung, danced, told stories, celebrated holidays and created crafts, in all generations and in all cultures, all of which are part of our intangible cultural heritage. In the Land of Legends, we focus on the oral storytelling tradition in the form of fairy tales and legends, among others, which are thus part of our intangible cultural heritage.
